If you’re ready for suburban life and don’t need to be close to NYC, the Philadelphia suburb of Penn Wynne is a good place to consider because of its well-rated public schools and affordable real estate. It’s also the fifth-best place to live in the U.S., according to Niche.

Penn Wynne is a section of Wynnewood in Montgomery County, and has the fifth-best public elementary school in the area and overall well-rated schools with an A+ rating, according to Niche. For green space, there’s Penn Wynne Park, Wynnewood Valley Park, and Morris Park.

For shopping and dining, you can head to City Avenue Shopping Center, where you’ll find big-box stores like T.J. Maxx, Ross, and Aldi plus restaurants like Blue Bay, Shalom Pizzeria,  Wingstop, and nearby Ferrante’s. It’s also just 20 minutes away from Philadelphia and two hours from New York City.

The real estate here is more affordable compared to NYC suburbs: The median sales price is $343,000, according to Redfin. Here, you’ll find older one- and two-story houses among newer, larger homes. Most houses currently on the market have basements, garages, large yards, and fireplaces.
